At a glance

  • Nico Paz is having a wonderful season at Como, with 12 goals and 7 Serie A assists this term.
  • Real Madrid look likely to trigger a bargain €9 million buyback clause for the Argentina international.
  • According to reports from Italy, however, Inter Milan are interested in snatching him away.

Inter Milan are a possible threat to Nico Paz’s expected Real Madrid return according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Argentina international left for Como in 2024. In Italy, Paz has kicked under former FC Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

This season alone, the number 10 has 12 goals and seven assists in Serie A. They’ve helped put Como in the reckoning for Champions League qualification. And in all competitions, his numbers are even more impressive with 19 goals and 17 assists overall.

With four games to spare in the Italian top flight, Como are in fifth place and three points behind fourth placed Juventus who occupy the last UCL spot.

Whether Paz will be around for Como’s European campaign – either in the premier competition or the Europa League – is a matter of intrigue.

Where will Nico Paz play next season?

He’s been heavily linked with a return to Real Madrid, who retained 50% of his rights when selling him for a fee of €6 million.

At just €9 million, Paz is a snip certain to feature at the World Cup for Argentina and can offer Los Blancos something fresh in attacking midfield.

But according to reports from Italy, Inter Milan are interested in snatching the 21 year old away from the Bernabeu.

The newspaper in question indicates that whoever takes the hotseat as head coach next could have a strong say in Paz’s future.

Jose Mourinho is President Florentino Perez‘s preferred candidate. But if the Portuguese manager returns for a second stint in the Spanish capital, Paz might not.

In Italy, there’s talking about an expensive loan fee for the prodigy with a “generous option to buy”. And if that doesn’t tempt Madrid, an offer of €40-50 million could.

matchday.
