  • Eduardo Camavinga has been blamed for Real Madrid’s epic 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg.
  • The Frenchman received a red card with Madrid winning 3-2 on the night and tied 4-4 on aggregate.
  • After the loss, however, Camavinga was found crying alone in the Allianz Arena away team dressing room.

A “sunken” Eduardo Camavinga was found crying alone in the Real Madrid locker room on Wednesday according to MARCA.

Already under fire for his performances as of late, the Frenchman entered a Champions League quarterfinal second leg tie against Bayern Munich with his team winning 3-2.

Considering a 2-1 loss the week before in the Bernabeu, Madrid were heading for extra time and still in with a chance of meeting holders Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal.

In the dying minutes, however, Camavinga was dismissed for receiving a second yellow. In quick succession, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise scored winning goals for the Bavarians to dump the 15-time winners out of the competition.

Real Madrid players found Camavinga a wreck

Following the full time whistle, Camavinga was found alone and “crying inconsolably”. His teammates have vowed to help the youngster through his pain. But there’s no denying that he’s going through his most difficult moment since joining Los Blancos in a €30 million deal from Rennes.

The second yellow card was harsh. But Camavinga does and should accept the blame for timewasting. He hogged the ball and didn’t hand it over following his soft foul, which had grave consequences.

Elsewhere, his name continues to be linked with moves away from the club. In the French capital, PSG are reportedly interested in tabling a €70 million offer.

The upcoming World Cup could serve as Camavinga putting himself in the shop window or reaffirming his quality.

Furthermore, we have to see if Alvaro Arbeloa continues or Florentino Perez brings in a replacement. Under the former, Camavinga’s lost his place. It seems obvious the Spaniard prefers Thiago Pitarch or Brahim Diaz over the 23-year-old.
