  • Real Madrid trail Bayern Munich 2-1 heading into a Champions League quarterfinal second leg decider.
  • Bayern fans attempted to disrupt the Los Blancos’ players sleep by letting off fireworks near their hotel in Munich.
  • The disruption took place at 01:00 AM local time, and lasted around a minute.

Bayern Munich fans attempted to disrupt the Real Madrid’s squad sleep in the early hours of Wednesday morning by letting off fireworks near their hotel.

The European behemoths do battle at the Allianz Arena later on the evening of said day, with Bayern currently leading 2-1 on aggregate.

In order to force extra time in the Champions League quarterfinals, Madrid must lead by at least one goal in the second leg to stand a chance of facing Paris Saint-Germain in the last four.

If a group of Bayern fans have been successful in their attempt, however, Alvaro Arbeloa’s men will rock up for kick off a little worse for wear.

Real Madrid had their sleep disrupted for a minute

That’s because at around 01:00 AM local time, some supporters threw firecrackers and fireworks near the Real Madrid hotel – the Leonardo Royal – for around a minute.

As pointed out by AS, though, it’s nothing new for many members of the current squad given something similar happened before taking on Liverpool in 2023.

In that instance, Reds fans let off fireworks at 01:00 AM and 02:30 AM near the Hotel INNsIDe by Melia before a last 16 clash.

Some Madrid fans joked how they were fireworks that Liverpool rivals saved to celebrate a 2022 Champions League final win in Paris against them that never materialised.

And the disruption also had little effect as Los Blancos won 5-2 at Anfield and then 1-0 in Bernabeu in 2023. Madrid hope for similar inspiration before taking on Bayern, who are widely believed to be the favourites to go all the way to Budapest and taste glory this term.

matchday.
